intranet
An electronic network owned and controlled by a business which contains relevant information about the business and is only accessible to designated employees and not to the general public. Intranets often have the "look and feel" of a standard website on the internet. They are built using the same programming code (HTML) as internet websites, and users navigate intranets in the same way as the internet (via hyperlinks or web links).
