diplomatic immunity
freedom from legal proceedings in the UK granted to members of diplomatic missions of foreign states under the Diplomatic Privileges Act 1964. Members of a mission's diplomatic staff are entitled to full criminal and civil immunity except for actions relating to certain private activities. Members of a mission's administrative or technical staff have full criminal immunity while civil immunity is restricted to acts performed in the course of his official duties. Both criminal and civil immunity for domestic staff are restricted to acts performed in the course of official duties.
