lex loci situs
'the place where the thing is', a term of private international law. In a conflict of laws situation, a court may have to apply the lex loci situs, viz. the legal rules of the place where the property in question is situated (or in some cases where it was situated at the time of some legally relevant transaction). It is most usually applied to immoveable property.
